SARAH MCMILLAN | RIDER
Based on the Central Coast of NSW, Sarah has grown up on a jumping arena and in the thick of the horse industry; riding under the watchful eye of her father, John McMillan since she was 3. While jumping has always been her passion in younger years (7-11), Sarah shared her time jumping her ponies and riding pony hacks for Mareena Stud. However, as soon as she was old enough to compete in juniors (12) jumping was her single and only focus. As a junior/young rider, Sarah was selected as a reserve (team of 1) for Youth Olympics in 2010, won Australian Championship Jr Grand Prix 2010, Australian Championships YR Grand Prix 2013, and again in 2014, and in 2014 was awarded EA NSW Young Athlete of the Year. In that time, Sarah represented Australia on 4 occasions, trained and competed in the U.S a number of times, put 5 State Titles to her name – and acquired an Honours Law Degree. Recently finishing university, Sarah has decided to give the show jumping her undivided attention (for the first time in her life). Sarah now has 8 horses in work, from 4-year olds to horses at Grand Prix level – one of which is Bellhaven Coraldo, owned by Bellhaven Stud.
“I could not be more thankful for the opportunities my parents, and people like those involved in Bellhaven Stud have given me, to ride horses of the quality of Coraldo, and help me get closer to reach the high standard required to reach the goals I have set. It’s an individual sport, but a team effort – I’m lucky enough to have an incredible team of people and horses!”
